Grunge Teddy
I've been wondering what to do for my godson's birthday. He's going to be 19 and it's silly crocheting him something, isn't it? But on the other hand, it feels a bit dismissive just getting him a voucher, much as he might like it.

The compromise I came up with is a Grunge Ted. Here's the wool I got for it.

The teddy's going to be grey, with a little grungy red t-shirt. Then I'm planning to do a logo on the front. Skull and crossbones, something like that. Maybe a chain of safety pins. Adorable, but somehow macho. Whether it'll come out like that remains to be seen.

Because I made my own design, I decided to do a practice Ted, using some yarn I'm not totally in love with, even though it looks good on a Ted. Not a disaster if it all goes wrong, was the theory. But it seems to have worked pretty well.

Meet Practice Ted! He's been claimed already by my husband, who wants him in his car. I might change a few things next time - I did a little muzzle by increasing and decreasing at the bottom of the face, but I probably won't bother next time on Grunge Ted. And I wonder if the body's a little long. Back to the graph paper to tweak!

There are some more pics of Teddy in Progress on Little Lovely Stuff, here, as well as another one of Mummy Elephant in progress. Now it's time to crochet an elephant's bottom...
