Hi there!
Hi! I've been kind of quiet for a while. I think it's finally happened.

I've fallen out of love with CSI. Even with Ryan, I think. The material he's got to work with is so bad, it makes Ryan a different character to the one we first met. For a long time, the Ryan I've written is a different one to the one on the show.

Now, I can't really be bothered to watch. I quite like CSI LV still, but can't be bothered with NY, and Miami is painful to watch. There was a time I could name any episode by the outfits and a vague description, but now it's a miracle if I can remember what happened right after I've finished watching. Not good.

I have to admit that the few things I've heard about Jon Togo aren't really things I like much. Smoking, yuck! Beating up his (much younger) girlfriend, allegedly. If he did that, I don't want anything to do with him, let alone gazing at his pic like a love-struck teenager. And I have done that, I confess.

I think it's over, though, and I'm sad. I'm halfway through a fic which might or might not get finished. I still like doing icons and wps, but what of now? I'll mull it over for a while and get back on that.

In the meantime, there's a new layout. Possibly temporary, but we'll see. I don't want to stop lj-ing, because I've met some lovely people here. You're great! A little bit of quiet time, I think, then I'll be back. *does Arnie impression*

Thank you! It's CSI-free, as you see.

It's only Ryan that kept me interested for so long. And even then, I kept watching because I felt I ought to rather than because I enjoyed it. He is pretty, I've got to admit that. Looking for a new fandom!

I like the new look... and I get the falling out of love with CSI Miami, the writing has gotten totally ridiculous and just leaves me wondering what do they think they are doing. I hope you find new inspiration and don't stop LJ'ing...
alligator138: Happycatalligator138 on February 2nd, 2011 10:36 am (UTC)
Thank you! New colours, new banner. No CSI.

Yup, I need new inspiration, and I think they do over at CSI:M too. "Flogging a dead horse" comes to mind.
charlie_jae on February 1st, 2011 03:10 pm (UTC)
Awww, that's the feeling going around a lot lately. I can understand though, I stopped watching long time ago, and just stuck to what was left of fandom.

Pretty cool layout.

And even that's failing somewhat. When I started doing this, it was everywhere, and really good. Now, it's kind of grasping at straws. I don't want to offend those who are still writing CSI fanfic - some of it is fantastic - but the fanfic has separated off from the show. I'll stop talking before I really do offend someone...

Awww that sucks but I can respect your reasons, I do have some problems with the recent seasons but still watch religiously lol

Good to know you won't be leaving us though!
alligator138: Clawsalligator138 on February 2nd, 2011 10:40 am (UTC)
I have been, but I have to admit I watch out of habit rather than interest now. It's quite sad, when it was something that gave me so much pleasure once. I still love your fics, though. They're in a special folder on a special data stick... Halcyon days when Eric and Ryan were just lovable!

No. Not leaving. I bought this lj, so I'm damn well going to use it! You might find me rambling about my life a bit more though...

Awww I'm glad you still enjoy my fics ^_^ I have a few WIPs that I should really try to finish sometime, one of which is on my netbook and not on my work computer lol I used to work on it at work since I got there about an hour early every day.

Well I am glad you are sticking around :D

so sad
I love your work and I am so sad that you fall out of love with the show and Ryan

Re: so sad
I'm sad too. I really loved that show, and it's been ruined. Need to find a new show! The fic's all still up there, though. I spent years writing it - it's there to stay!

Yeah, I can see where you're coming from. I stopped watching CSI Miami ages ago because I just couldn't bring myself to watch it any longer. But at least we've had some good times though, right?

I'm glad to hear you won't disappear from LJ completely. I may not be around as much as I used to, but I still love hearing from my friends from time to time.
alligator138: Fanfictionalligator138 on February 2nd, 2011 10:44 am (UTC)
We've had some darn good times! And I can't regret it, because I 'met' some fantastic people here. That's why I don't want to stop lj-ing (apart from the fact that I paid for the lj. :)) It's great to hear how folks are getting on. This is probably going to become more of a diary than a fic-factory now.

Hi! *waves* remember me?
haven't heard since months from you. :(
Hope you still want to be in contact with me. I really enjoyed our conversations.
I understand your decision. same here. I watch CSI:Miami, but not with the same enthusiasm as before. I only read your fanfics, because you're such a great writer. I also heard that JT maybe hurt his gf and this is a thing I can't stand. I can't look at him as I did before.
inge_24inge_24 on February 1st, 2011 08:40 pm (UTC)
oh, and the new layout is awesome!!!!!!!

Hi there! Sorry I haven't been in touch. I've just had a bout of what Shadowfax used to call "online weirdness". I hope to be back in touch soon.

CSI:Miami's lost it, I'm afraid. I can't get excited about it any more. Thanks for the comment about my writing. I'm still writing, but assignments for my OU course right now. The fanfic has really developed my skills!

I always preferred Ryan to JT. This has just confirmed that feeling.

Thank you! Pretty colours! I'll probably indulge in a bit more of that. I like colours and patterns.

I do watch other shows, but I've never really got the bug like I did with Hardy Boys. I haven't seen True Blood yet. Is that the one with Anna Paquin? I like her.
Girl from Ipanema: geeksi_heart_ng on February 1st, 2011 11:12 pm (UTC)
I've fallen out of love with CSI.
This seems to be the general consensus. Other than a few diehard fans, I haven't talked to anybody in ages who watches out of something other than sheer habit (as in my case).

It's sad, and yet on the other hand, I used to get so worked up over the story/character lines when I still cared about the show and that wasn't much fun, either.
alligator138: Clawsalligator138 on February 2nd, 2011 10:53 am (UTC)
It's surprising how many people have replied and said they agree. I thought there was a ground-swell of that opinion and this confirms it. Sheer habit describes it perfectly!

Yes, the characters and storylines used to really get to me too. I went through hell when I heard Ryan was getting shot in the eye. How silly! And that was when it was still fun.

I need new icons and mood themes. There's something for me to focus on for a while. Apart from work and study and work and practice and work and sleep...
gatekeeper1324 on February 2nd, 2011 01:03 am (UTC)
Hi I totally get you on this one! On both points so either way is cool with me. True Blood is good though very um er - sexy. I also like the Vampire Diaries too. Just sugesting some new shows because your writing is sooo good. Though you could write your own CSI Miami it would be better than the real thing and more fun too. Love your new layout.

See you later!

Re: Hi
Thank you! It's nice to know that my writing has captured people's imagination. And now, I'm finding that writing fanfic has developed my writing so I'm getting good marks in my university course. Not a waste of time at all!

I will probably come back to writing fanfic sometime. I'd like to finish this current fic if poss, but we'll see. First priority - new icons and mood theme!
grey_hunter on February 2nd, 2011 09:09 am (UTC)
You're a lot more patient and loyal than I've been. And to think that I've fallen out with the show because of the *lens flare* ... I like your new layout. ♥
alligator138: Who da cat?alligator138 on February 2nd, 2011 10:57 am (UTC)
Yup, patient describes me well. Forgiving and totally blind to loved one's faults also rings a bell. CSI:Miami didn't used to be so eye-watering, I seem to think. Now it looks like they're trying to blind us so we don't notice the storyline. Or lack of.

Thanks! I'm probably going to play with the layout some too.

Hello! I agree with everything you've said. Especially the bit about it feeling like it's a happy relationship coming to an end. Actually, I've had relationships shorter than my obsession with RW... A lot shorter.

*moves on quickly* I hope to finish IF, but with various RL pressures, it's unlikely to be soon. I really hope we'll stay in touch too. I like you! *hugs*
adam_brittboy on February 8th, 2011 10:34 pm (UTC)
Gasp. I just came on to read your new stuff. Gutted.

Now, I'll relax some if you jump over and write some Firefly Simon/Jayne fic.

Or some Nick/Greg vegas. Or . . . erm, Kirk/McCoy.

No, I'm really gutted.

Although I understand what you're saying. And even though I read magazines and always sorta-believe what they write, I try not to read because newspapers really do just make a lot of stuff up.

I've been in an incident before that was reported in the paper and the times, who was involved and what happened all changed - and most of it was stuff that never even occured. So I'd take it with a big-old pinch of salt :)

Really hope to see more writing from you soon though.

Also -I really like the idea of Eric/Don. Ruff! :D

alligator138: Feeling weirdalligator138 on March 3rd, 2011 08:52 pm (UTC)
*lol* I've never watched Firefly. Sorry. Now, Greg/someone is starting to grab me. And maybe some Star Trek, but I'd be more into Spock/McCoy. Spock was my first big crush. I've got no time though! *cries*

Yup, pinches of salt are definitely needed where papers are concerned. It's like Chinese Whispers.
slothy_girlslothy_girl on February 20th, 2011 04:53 am (UTC)
Aw, that really sucks and I hate how far the show has fallen- I really dont like it when that happens D:

You could always try Hawaii Five-0 :) it's like a mash up of CSI, NCIS, and it's loosely based off a show from the 80s-90s that went by the same name. It's only just getting to episode 18, so it should be easy to catch up- and what's awesome is that the two main guys are already practically MARRIED- yes, that's right- MARRIED! Not really, because CBS would have a hernia, but CBS not only allows the writers to write A LOT of fan service, but they made a video that said and I quote "dont call it a bromance"

The characters have so much chemistry it's unbelieveable, Danny and Steve are just so adorable and MARRIED even tho they're not *sigh*

Anyway- I hope your loss of CSI: Miami and others wont stop you from writing. As many people have commented before me, you are an extremely talented writer, and your stories really contain those emotional impacts most writers take a life time to achieve.

Good luck though :) and seriously, if you ever have a spare minute or is just plain curious? Check out Hawaii Five-0 if you havent already :D (and just so you know, it plays at 10 PM on Mondays ;)

Thank you for your kind words. It's lovely to know so many people rate my writing. I've got a kind of outline for a book I might write one day, so watch out! My lifestyle is going to have to change first though. I have noooo writing time!

I remember Hawaii 5-0 from the first time round. Not sure I could take it seriously again. Great music though!
