Christmas shopping done...
Or shopping, such as it is. Most people have home-made scarves this year. My brother has a t-shirt, and my parents have sweeties. I've got them all ready to wrap now, though. Aren't I good? *is smug*

Here they are, the scarves. I hope they're not as horrible as 'home-made' makes them sound.

For my best friend - we've been friends since we were teenagers. We still are teenagers when we're together...

For her son, my godson. He's 18 now. How did that happen?

For her daughter. She's 15.
and
I'm really pleased with those daisies. Fiddly as hell!

And for my stepson. He likes plain things. It's a man scarf.

I'm doing one for my husband too. I tend to buy big packs of wool in sales, so these all worked out really cheap. Or should I say 'good value'. That's probably better.

Now, I just need to work on feeling Christmassy. It doesn't feel like Christmas at all, somehow. *bah humbug*

Lovely! :) I've been banned from making wooly anything for my immediate family (they are all knitted out LOL) but I am in the process of making a cute hat for one of my best friends :)

Yes, we have to be careful how much we make for our nearest and dearest. *lol* It's nice to get something hand-made, though. It'll be the only one like it in the world and it's been made especially. I guess it's a bonus if it fits... Can't go wrong with scarves! *is sneaky*

I completely agree on "bah humbug" :P I've been told more than once that I need to try to be happier for Christmas, but... meh.

The scarves are all cute! :D I love the little daisies on the green one, very nice. :) Looks like you put a lot of work into them.

I'm about... well, I have gifts for 1/5. One is on the way, the other I'll hopefully buy tomorrow. The other two... not sure yet.

Thank you! I'm not the only one not to feel unChristmassy. The problem is that I feel like I'm getting to be like my parents that way, and it drives me crazy! They're the biggest Grinches ever!

Yup, lots of work on the scarves, but I just have to do something with my hands while I watch TV or even read, so making Christmas gifts is a good use for something I need to do anyway.

Hope your Christmas shopping is more complete now. It's horrible not to be able to think of something to give.

They look great! Are they knitted or crochet? I can't tell from the photos.
I have a few half-done scarves that'll eventually be Christmas gifts, but my carpel tunnel makes it hard to do more than two or three rows at a time.
alligator138: Jingle Bellsalligator138 on December 18th, 2011 05:04 pm (UTC)
They're crochet. I get on better with only one implement (the hook) and only one stitch in play at a time, I find. Crochet doesn't curl up at the edges like knitting does, either. I'm hooked. *hides at dreadful pun*

Carpal tunnel must be horrible. It would screw up my life good and proper! I hope it allows you to finish your scarves for this Christmas!

Thank you! I've since finished one for Himself. It came out kind of lop-sided, like a parallelogram, because I used a mix of stitches rather than just the one. However, I made a feature of it and pretended it was supposed to be like that. Sneaky, eh?

They're all in the post now, apart from the ones for Himself and the stepson, so I hope they go down well.

Thank you very much! I might do that one again for me. The original pattern was for chunkier yarn, but using 4 ply made it much lighter.

you did good!!

Ok, I must know what pattern you used for the red one and the green one. Those are absolutely stunning.

Thanks! I got those patterns both from Inside Crochet. Issue 24 for the daisy scarf, and Issue 11 for the circles one. I believe you can get them both online (http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/circles-scarf-2 and http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/daisy-scarf-3). Enjoy!

I really like each of the scarves you've made, they show a lot of care has been put into them :)

They're all great, but I love the first one the best. What a great job you did!

Thank you very much! It works well with a variegated yarn.

I really like the red one!

I know what you mean. I spent today baking and making candy with my best friend since my Sophomore year of high school. :)

I'm not bah humbuggy, but it just seems that the older I get, the more difficult it seems to enjoy the holidays simply because they fly by so quickly and we're so busy. I don't know how time seemed to move like molasses when I was a child. The holidays felt like they lasted forever back then.
alligator138: Feeling weirdalligator138 on December 23rd, 2011 04:49 pm (UTC)
Tell me about it! The only days that last forever now are workdays. Holidays are gone in a flash.

Thanks, and here's to being childish with our friends! Act your shoe size, not your age!
